Haiti Relief | Good Samaritan Project

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?  Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.  - James 2:15-17

The earthquake that shook Haiti in January devastated the churches, homes, and businesses of countless families. The destruction to personal property was immense, but the loss of life was even more staggering.

There are many large international relief organizations working to support and rebuild the lives of survivors. However, it can feel like our support gets lost in the shuffle.  Northside is working with the Good Samaritan Project in order to have a more direct effect on the lives of brothers and sisters in Haiti.

The Good Samaritan Project in Grand Goave just outside Port au Prince was established in 1977 to spread the Gospel to those hungry for the Truth of Jesus Christ. The project built a church, a school, and an orphanage combining Faith with the work of their hands. All this was destroyed by the earthquake.

You can support the families devastated by this great tribulation and help them help others by contributing to the cause.

Northside has already sent aid in the form of food, clothing and other supplies, but the needs remain great. As the people of the Good Samaritan Project work to rebuild, they need our help.  You can contribute by donating some or all of the following.

  • Food: (dry and canned) Rice, Beans, Powdered Milk, Canned Meats, Water

  • Hygienic Items: Soap, Deodorant, Toothpaste, Tooth Brushes, Feminine Hygiene Products

  • Clothes of all sizes, shoes, etc. (Please mark sizes on clothes and shoes.
)

  • Shelters: Tents and Tarps

  • Tools: Hammers, Axes, Shovels, Saws, Hoes, Rakes

  • Bibles

Northside accepting donations at the Church on Sundays 10am to 12pm.  We will take your contributions, package them, and ensure that they get in the hands of the people of Grand Goave.

We encourage you to help those who can help others in a real and lasting way. Let your faith work.
